Successful start to the year with the virtual Baader Helvea Swiss Equities Conference

The 18th Baader Helvea Swiss Equities Conference brought together around 80 leading Swiss companies and over 450 investors from some 25 countries for a virtual event. The event remains so popular with participants that this year's conference once again extended to three days in total. This provided the scope to include presentations from companies taking part for the first time. Around half of the companies represented are listed in the Swiss Market Index.

Given the continuing uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 situation, this year's Baader Helvea Swiss Equities Conference, which took place from 12 to 14 January 2022, was a fully virtual event. Through online presentations and some 1000 sessions that were held either one on one or in small groups, key management from the presenting companies spoke with investors about how they had found the last year and what lies ahead. The Baader Helvea Swiss Equities Conference was a huge success despite the challenges involved in holding events in the current climate, underpinned by the inclusion of new participants and the use once again of a successful virtual format that generated some lively discussions.

"The Baader Swiss Equities Conference is one of the most important events for us which complements our quantitative investment approach. This year we are excited to learn about the Swiss companies' post-pandemic outlook and their handling of input cost inflation. We always appreciate the opportunity to access so many companies at one spot as well as the excellent organisation of this event", said Angelika Stückler, Director at UBP Investment Advisors S.A., about her participation as an investor.

Most of the Swiss companies were very optimistic about their future earnings prospects during their presentations at the Baader Helvea Swiss Equities Conference. While the inflationary environment and the resulting cost increases are likely to continue, the majority of managers assumed that other adverse factors would gradually recede. Despite continuing uncertainties, optimism prevailed among most companies, which were able to refer to a favourable current business trend as well as impressive earnings increases over the past quarters. As a result, many companies announced a further profit growth, confirming the targets they had set. In addition, many companies underlined their scope to further increase dividend payments.

"Initially we were hoping that this year's Baader Helvea Swiss Equities Conference could return to an in-person format, but sadly circumstances did not allow it. We are therefore delighted that we were able to fall back on our solid technical setup for virtual conferences, which by this stage is tried and tested and is much appreciated by our participants", says Oliver Riedel, Member of the Board of Directors at Baader Bank.

The next Baader Helvea Swiss Equities Conference will take place from 11 to 13 January 2023, hopefully in Bad Ragaz. Further details can also be found on our website at https://www.swissequitiesconference.com.
